1. Unskilled and semi-skilled Workers
Who is eligible:
Workers from the construction industry who can read and write in Kannada
or Hindi, sponsored by their employers.
Output:
The candidate will become a Certified Skilled Worker in 18 months (72
weeks).
Stake holders:
Construction companies, contractors, labour contract agency, the community.

Course fees:
Full course Rs 1,000
Trade tests (3 tests at Rs 500 each) Rs 1,500
Total Rs 2,500
Liability on employer:
Total fee of Rs 2,500.
In addition, employers have to ensure the workers they depute to attend
the course get full wages during its duration.
Duration:
18 months consisting of three sessions.
Each session, of 12 weeks duration, involves:
Classwork (lectures and practicals) 2 weeks
Site training (work with their employer) 9 weeks
Trade test (report at the Institute) 1 week
Timings:
Monday to Saturday 9.30 a.m.–5.30 p.m. = 8 hrs
Recess 1 p.m.–2 p.m.
Batch size:
Number of batches per year: 4
Number of candidates per batch: 75
— 15 candidates from masonry
— 15 candidates from carpentry
— 15 candidates from plumbing
— 15 candidates from tiling
— 15 candidates from bar-bending
300 workers will be trained annually, of which 20% will be women.
Brigade-CTVTI’s future courses:
Progressively, we will cover 16 different trades. We also plan to start
training programmes in other areas like housekeeping and hospitality
and to train women in multi-skills.
2. Training courses for Supervisors
Who is eligible:
Supervisors from civil works, who can read and write in Kannada or
Hindi.
Output:
The candidate will become a Certified Supervisor in 6 months (24 weeks).
Stake holders:
Construction companies, contractors, the community.
Course fees:
Full course Rs 3,000
Test and certification Rs 500
Total Rs 3,500
Liability on employer:
No liability on employer as fees are paid by individual candidates.
Employer’s work does not suffer as training is conducted on weekends.
Duration:
6 months.
Classroom lectures and practicals on weekends.
12 hrs per week for 4 months.
Site training for 2 months (work with the employees).
Trainees can work and learn at the same time.
Hence no wage loss is involved.
Timings:
Saturday 2 p.m.–8 p.m. = 6 hrs
Sunday 8 a.m.–2 p.m. = 6 hrs
Batch size:
Number of batches per year: 2
Number of candidates per batch: 30
60 people will be trained annually, of which 20% will be women.

To train supervisors from other areas of the construction industry.
3. Training courses for Technicians
Who is eligible:
Technicians from civil works.
Output:
The candidate will become a Certified Technician in one year.
Stake holders:
Construction companies, contractors,
the community.
Course fees:
Full course: Rs.15,000
Testing and certification expenses depend on international agency selected.
Liability on employer:
No liability on employer as fees are paid by individual candidates.
Employer’s work does not
suffer as training is conducted in the evenings.
Duration:
One year.
Classroom work will be held in the evenings.
4 working days a week, 3 hrs every time,for a total of 12 hrs per week.
Site training on weekends only.
Batch size:
Number of batches per year: 2
Number of candidates per batch: 50
